Confederation of Indian Bar also organizes farewell dinners in Honour of Retired Judges of Supreme Court. These dinners are attended by Hon’ble Judges of Supreme Court, Hon’ble Judges of Delhi High Court, large number of members of the Supreme Court Bar Association, elected representatives of the Bar Council of India, Bar Council of Delhi, Delhi High Court Bar Association, District Courts Bar Associations and other Tribunals Bar Association. The dinners hosted by Confederation of Indian Bar to bid farewell to Hon’ble Supreme Court Judges on their retirement in 2014 are as follows:

The Confederation of Indian Bar does not host welcome dinner for the incoming judges of the Supreme Court. However dinners were hosted by Mr. Pravin H. i. On 2nd and 3rd April, 2011 in all India seminar organized by Confederation of Indian Bar in collaboration with Bar council of Rajasthan, Rajasthan High Court Advocates Association, Rajasthan High Court Lawyers Association.

ii. The Function was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice G.S. Singhvi, the then Judge Supreme Court and was presided by the then Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arun Mishra. The messages were received from the President of India, Prime Minister of India, Vice President of India, Speaker of Lok Sabha, Governor of Rajasthan and the Chief Minister of Rajasthan.

Each of the seminars was presided by the sitting Judges of the Supreme Court, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Deepak Verma, Hon’ble Mr. Justice A.K Ganguly, Hon’ble Mr. Justice T.S. Thakur, Hon’ble Ms. Justice Gyan Sudha Misra, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Swatanter Kumar.

Valedictory session was addressed by Hon’ble Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, the then Union Minister of External Affairs, presently the President of India.

2. 13.04.2007 Main Auditorium, ISIL, New Delhi Hon’ble Mr Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, the then Chief Justice of India. Trans Border Perspective

i. This International Seminar was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, the then Chief Justice of India and the working sessions were presided by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice H.K. Sema, the Judge, Supreme Court. The speakers from other countries in the seminars were the Rt. Hon Lord Justice (Simon) Tuckey, Judge, Court of Appeal, U.K, Mr. Geoffrey Vos, Queens Counsel, Chairman of the Bar Council of England and Wales, Mr. Micheal Swainston, Queen’s Counsel, Chairman of the International Relations Committee of the Bar Council of England and Wales, Mr. Kawar Quershi, Queen’s Counsel, Vice- chairman of the International Relations Committee of the Bar Council of England and Wales, Mr. James Dingemans, Queens Counsel, Vice- chairman of the International Relations Committee of the Bar Council of England and Wales. The Programme details are annexed herewith and marked as Annexure C.

3. 23.11.2007 & 24.11.2007 Raisina Hall, Le Meridien Hotel, New Delhi Hon’ble Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, the then Chief Justice of India International Seminar on “Judicial Independence”

i. This Seminar was addressed by the President of Supreme Court of Thailand and members of European Parliament and Members of the Committee on Legal affairs, Government of Germany. It was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, the then Chief Justice of India and presided by Dr. H.R. Bharadwaj, the then Union Law Minister. It was a two day Seminar the Valedictory address was delivered by Hon’ble Dr. Justice Arijit Pasayat and Dr. Dato’ Param Cumaraswamy, Former U.N. Special Rapporteur for Independence of Judges and Lawyers, Malaysia and Hon’ble Dr. Justice M.K. Sharma, the then Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. A book containing the details is enclosed herewith and marked as Annexure D.
